We're considering removing the cue ball impact guideline on long-distance shots to make safety play more realistic and rewarding. The goal is to improve two areas of gameplay: 1️⃣ Make long-distance safety shots more effective Shots back to baulk, particularly off the break, would become more challenging to attack. Long pots would carry greater risk, and successfully returning the cue ball to safety would require more skill. 2️⃣ Prevent easy negative safety shots Currently, players can sometimes exploit the guideline by simply rolling onto a distant red (or colour) to play an easy, low-risk safety shot without much thought or precision. Removing the impact guideline at longer distances would make these shots harder to execute and encourage more considered safety play. Should we make this change?
